Celilo Falls
Something a little different.
Here are a series of photographs taken by my Aunt and Uncle, Florence and John Holzemer, of Celilo Falls in 1952. The whole area is now underwater. Here we see the local Native Americans fishing, as they had done for thousands of years before the area was flooded by the construction of The Dalles Dam.

Melmont
Melmont was one of a series of mining and logging settlements along the Carbonado River (incl. Carbanado, Fairfax, Manley Moore) . Not much left other than a couple of walls, the dynamite shed and the cleared area of the actual townsite. Being a company town, when the place was shut down, everything of value was removed.
The townsite itself.
The remains of the bridge that crossed the Carbanado here.
A HUGE coil of cable at the edge of town. I imagine it was left and the spool disintegrated long ago.
A wall on the main trail that leads to the townsite. Looks a bit too substantial for a retaining wall only.
Finally, the "Dynamite Shed" as its commonly called. There is unfortunately a looter's pit undermining part of the foundation.

Chinese Characters
Clyde Schoolhouse
The Schoolhouse at Clyde, Washington, located in the northwestern part of Walla Walla County. Clyde itself is really only a series of grain elevators at a crossroads with a farmhouse, about halfway between Lower Monumental Dam and Hwy 124.
Overall shot from the road.
Someone set fire to part of the building.
Inside the main classroom. Notice the chalkboard to the left.
The place is home to MANY pigeons, including dead ones.
The main entrance.
The Basement, as far as I was willing to venture into it.
